Essential Tips For Healing Dry Skin

If you have dry skin, you know how irritating and itchy it can be. Winter months can be especially brutal when flakiness and dryness is at an all time high. And many moisturizers have too much fragrance and seem to make your skin even worse. We feel your pain. Managing dry skin certainly takes some finesse, but you can manage and heal it with the right habits and moisturizer. If you’re struggling to get relief from your dry skin, here are some tips that can help.

Thank you for sponsoring this post, Curél®! All opinions are our own.

 Use The Right Moisturizer

IMG_3131

Using an effective, quality moisturizer is your first defense against dry skin. It’s also best to use a moisturizer that doesn’t have artificial fragrance, as they can further irritate your skin. We recently had the opportunity to try Curél® HYDRA THERAPY Wet Skin Moisturizer and were thrilled with the results. This dermatologist recommended moisturizer is applied to wet skin after showering and immediately penetrates the skin for instantly moisturized, smoother skin.

Curél® HYDRA THERAPY works because after showering your skin cells expand, providing a more effective pathway for moisture to penetrate the skin. It also uses ceramides, which are vital to protecting the skin and maintaining its moisture barrier. . Applied to wet skin, before you towel off from a shower or bath, this moisturizer was immediately absorbed, with no stickiness. Our skin felt instantly smoother and less dry and flaky. It looked well hydrated and moisturized. Best of all, Curél® HYDRA THERAPY is fragrance free, absorbs completely and is grease-less, so you get all the moisture benefits without a greasy feeling. It has also received the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance™, so it’s approved for even the most sensitive skin.

This moisturizer is a steal and works better than other moisturizers we’ve used that cost twice as much. Ready to finally heal your skin and try Curél® HYDRA THERAPY Wet Skin Moisturizer yourself? Head over to the official Curél® website to learn more and to find a retailer near you.

Steps for Showering

We know how tempting it can be during cold winter months to take extra hot showers. It may feel good, but ultimately it will irritate and dry out your skin more. Instead, take shorter, mild showers to avoid drying out your skin. If you’re already suffering from dry, itchy legs, it’s best to skip shaving. Instead of shaving daily, try every other day. Shaving can further cause dryness, irritation and itching. While in the shower, make it a point to exfoliate. Using a loofah or sponge to gently exfoliate your body from head to toe will help remove dead skin cells, which can build up and cause more itching and flakiness. After  you hop out of the shower , make sure to rub on the Curél Hydra Therapy – your skin is primed to absorb this great lotion and I found that my legs were smoother than ever!

Drink Plenty of Water

Most of us are not drinking enough water daily. Our epidermal layer is our largest organ and relies on plenty of hydration to stay healthy. By increasing your water intake you are effectively moisturizing your body from the inside out. Make sure to get the recommended 8 glasses of water per day.

I make a concerted effort to drink a lot of water and eat healthy because that definitely helps my skin. I do still have dry skin though so I often use lotion but haven’t found a favorite yet. I definitely want to try Curel Hydra Therapy because it sounds awesome!
