With so many products on the market, it can be tough to figure out which mask to use. Whether your skin is oily, dry, acne-prone or something in between, here’s a guide to ingredients to look for and masks to try depending on your skin type.
Skin Type: Dry & Sensitive Skin
Look For: Products with soothing and moisturizing ingredients such as aloe, chamomile, glycerin, rose hip oil, oatmeal, avocado, honey
Masks to Try:
This mask in renowned for immediately soothing and moisturizing dry/sensitive skin. With natural oils such as sunflower, avocado, jojoba and sweet almond, this mask quenches even the driest skin types.
Here is another winning moisture mask for dry/sensitive skin. Its main ingredients containing 72% Avene Thermal Spring Water and safflower oil will make your skin feel like silk. This mask is especially great if you’ve just had an aggressive peel or after a sunburn.
Skin Type: Oily/Acne-prone
Look For: Products with beta and alpha hydroxy acids, clay, aloe, sulfur, calendula
Masks to try:
This beloved mask sops up excess oil while soothing acne and clearing clogged pores. Aloe vera and sodium PCA moisturize and prevent irritation often associated with acne products.
Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque
Queen Helene’s Mint Julep masque is a beauty staple for many! This inexpensive, effective mask also contains sulfur for oil absorbing and acne clearing properties. It’s also 1/4 of the cost of similar masks. It’s excellent for knocking out even the biggest pimples. Be sure to moisturize or add honey to this mask to avoid overdying.
This anti-inflammatory mask contains organic tomatoes (lycopene) to detoxify, dead sea minerals and pumpkin to exfoliate, and oat kernel meal, vitamin E, aloe, and sweet almond oil to soothe and moisturize. This mask is packed with everything you need for clearer, more refined skin!

Look For: Combination and normal skin types can use a variety of products depending on what your needs are. Products with exfoliating and moisturizing ingredients such as beta/alpha hydroxy acids, aloe, natural plant oils, and clays are all helpful for normal/combination skin.

This mask is truly effective for all skin types! While it’s exfoliating, it’s extremely gentle, so even more sensitive skin types can benefit from this mask -making it a great overall product. It contains mandelic acid (one of the more gentle acids) for exfoliation, wheat amino acids for plumping, and vitamin e and aloe for moisturizing.
Freeman Facial Charcoal & Black Sugar Polish Mask
This is a great, quick mask you can throw on in the shower for immediate brightening and exfoliating. It doubles as a sugar scrub and mask that you can use on your whole body! Black charcoal gently helps purge impurities without drying while natural sugar removes dead skin cells.
Touted as the “15 Minute Facial” this mask is effective for all skin types. This glycerin-rich mask breaks down any clogged pores with castor oil, while zinc gluconate plumps the skin and shea butter and sunflower oil moisturize. It also contains a small amount of salicylic acid for gentle exfoliation.
